This information session gives students and families an opportunity to learn more about Earl of March Intermediate School and hopefully answers any questions about the year ahead.

You may watch the recording of the livestream or simply view the presentation on which the livestream is based. The presentation has been updated to include the questions submitted during the livestream.

Attendance and Lates

Regular attendance in class is crucial to academic success. If a student is going to be absent, parents are asked to either email or call the school at 613-592-3361.

Intermediate students should be standing in the yard with their class by 8:40 a.m. If students are late, they are to report to the main office to get a late slip and bring it to their teacher.

Student Council

View of the Intermediate wing at EOM

The Earl of March Intermediate Student Council is normally run by a grade 8 student elected the previous year by their classmates. As we were not able to hold an election last spring, Mme Montemurro and Mrs. Frost started the Student Council this fall. Each grade 7 & 8 homeroom elected 2 representatives from their class. These class representatives elected a Grade 8 student as their President and a Grade 7 Vice-President. The Student Council meets once a week virtually to discuss activities and plan monthly Battle of the Grades (BOG) competitions. These activities are designed to build the school community. Some of the events this year include a school-wide Kahoot challenge, a Spirit Week, and an at Home Scavenger Hunt.

Equity and Diversity Club

The Earl of March Intermediate Equity and Diversity Club meets during the first break (10:40-11:20) every Tuesday.  The club's focus is on bringing equity and diversity into our school by acknowledging and valuing the students who are in our building and their many identities.  Club supervisors are Mrs. Hughson and Mrs. Taggart.

Library Use

For the 2020-21 school year, the library space is closed to all students. However, students may borrow library books by placing a hold in Alexandria, after which the book will be delivered to the student's classroom. Detailed instructions are available on the Library webpage. Students are limited to one book at a time in English and one book at a time in French. The loan period is 3 weeks. When the student is finished with the library book, it should be returned to the Library bin in the classroom.
